Citizens for Pets in Condos founder, Maida W Genser and her cats Spike and Priya are featured in the May/June issue of Florida InsideOut magazine.  The article is NOT available online, but you can purchase a copy of the magazine at Barnes & Noble or other magazine vendors.  The article, by Joann Biondi, is entitled,
"Putting the Pooch on a Diet and Insisting the Dog is a Cat." 
It goes into some of the extremes that people will utilize to fight to keep their pets.

Legal Case Could Redefine the Value of Companion Animals:

...growing ranks of animal law attorneys are working to convince courts that a companion animal should be measured by more than its cash value. Often they claim intentional infliction of emotional distress, for harm done to the owner, as well as loss of companionship..."

According to this article - Condo owners fight to keep pets in no-pet communities: South Florida Sun-Sentinel  the Office of Equal Opportunity in Palm Beach County handles at least one pet rules case a month.  That is just one Florida county! Just one law firm says they deal with 40 or 50 pet disputes a year in Palm Beach and Broward counties.  And the state Condo Ombudsman gets at least one call a week about pet issues.
